This is our Story

Remalanders is a distinguished organization composed of dedicated men committed to enhancing the quality of life for the people of Remo through a variety of impactful intervention programs. Our mission is to give back to society and foster sustainable development within our community. Established in 2017, we have been fortunate to have founding members such as xyz, who have played pivotal roles in our initiatives. Our programs focus on education, health, and economic empowerment, ensuring that we address the diverse needs of our community.

HISTORY OF REMOLANDERS SOCIAL CLUB*

It all started when few childhood friends in their mid 50s, numbering six and residing in the continents of Europe, North America and Africa fortuitously came together on a WhatsApp call to exchange banters and ask after their families. The initiator of the call never had the intention of creating a WhatsApp group let alone setting up a social club, and, little did he and others know that the course of their social lives was about to irreversibly change for good. A casual question about the Naira exchange rate and how the less privileged people were coping with the economic hardship back at home was the trigger that set off a broad-based discussions and helpful suggestions that culminated in the proposal for the formation of a social club. A 5-man Working Committee was quickly set up to deliberate and make recommendations on the following: *1*. Recruitment of Members *2*. Membership Rules *3*. Name, Logo and Motto of the Club *4*. Drafting the club Rule Book - The Constitution *5*. Bank Account Opening *6*. Elections into EXCO Offices *7*. Club Membership Fees, Dues, Donations , Gifts and Fines. *8*. Participation Terms *9*. Termination Conditions Like an idea whose time has come, it took less than 24 hours to have over 20 public-spirited gentlemen enlisted as members of the proposed club,men of unimpeachable integrity, great sons of Remo towns and cities from diverse fields of human endeavour. With the aforementioned items 1-to-9 substantially accomplished, the club was officially established on 22ND AUGUST, 2021, a day globally recognised as National Be an Angel Day - a day that encourages good deeds and kindness to others. One key issue that was settled very early in the club’s formation stage was the name of the club: REMOLANDERS - Egbe Bobaselu Ti Ile Remo. Though a lot of names were suggested by members, the above-mentioned double-barrelled name was chosen and adopted because it connotes origin, royalty and sociability. With the club ‘christened’, EXCO and Ad-hoc committees in place, royal blessings from Oba Akarigbo received and all other formative issues addressed, the group of friends soon began functioning as a social club cum age-grade group - a hybrid of sorts. The club hit the ground running by visiting charity homes, correctional institutions, hospitals, and public schools to render material and financial assistance to the underprivileged, the incarcerated, the sick and the disabled. However, owing to philosophical and ideological differences in how to move the club forward operationally, which unfortunately emerged in its ranks during the infant stages, the club was forced to let go of some members, and a consensual agreement was then reached to cede the name **Egbe Bobaselu* to the breakaway faction, with the club retaining the name *Remolanders* . Hence, having ironed out all termination conditions, the name: Egbe Bobaselu Ti Ile Remo was bequeathed to the breakaway group on June . . . 2022. Needless to add that, like a branch of a tree trunk, the age-grade group popularly known as “Egbe Bobaselu Ti Ile Remo” is an offshoot of Remolanders Social club. Having emerged rebranded after the challenges of its early years, Remolanders Social Club has become a pre-eminent social club peopled by honourable and community-minded men of impeccable integrity - great and illustrious sons of Remo land whose primary aim is to give back to the community through social activities, charitable giving, educational support and community engagement. *Remolanders . . .* *for the love of Members, Remoland and Humanity.*
